Nick Binder

Founder & Principal Attorney, Binder Law & Strategy PLLC.

Nick Binder is the founder and Principal Attorney of Binder Law & Strategy PLLC, an AI-native law firm advising founders, emerging companies, and investors on the decisions that come with building and scaling a business. His practice spans venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities and capital markets matters, special situations, and the day-to-day general counsel needs of growing companies.

Nick built his transactional career at leading firms. He began as a corporate restructuring associate at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he focused on corporate restructuring and special situations — analyzing complex credit documents, structuring and implementing plans of reorganization, and leading negotiations among creditor constituencies. His engagements there included representing Intelsat S.A. in its restructuring of $15 billion in funded debt and its emergence from chapter 11 with nearly $7 billion in new exit financing, among other major chapter 11 matters. Nick later practiced at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP, where his work centered on emerging companies, venture capital, and M&A — serving as lead attorney on equity financings from Series Seed through later stage financings, advising investors on early-stage investments, guiding companies through distress and bridge financings, and handling strategic acquisitions and joint ventures. Nick has also advised on financing transactions, including syndicated credit facilities and secured lending.

That combination — elite-firm restructuring and finance experience alongside hands-on emerging-companies and venture work — lets Nick bring big-firm rigor to founder-stage matters while keeping the engagement efficient and personal. Every matter is handled directly by Nick, who stays close to his clients from start to finish, pairs transparent pricing with responsiveness, and leverages modern technology and AI to move work faster without compromising judgment. He is active in the startup ecosystem, and has partnered with Pulley to deliver founder-focused programming on early equity financing strategy and common pitfalls. See Insights.

Nick earned his JD summa cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where he graduated first in his class (ranked 1 of 219), received the Dean's Valedictorian Award, and served on the Michigan State Law Review. Nick also holds an MBA from McMaster University. Admitted in Michigan; Illinois (inactive).
